History and importance of Paracas and Huacachina<\/h2>\n

The Paracas National Reserve is one of the richest marine sanctuaries in South America, nicknamed \u201cthe Peruvian Gal\u00e1pagos\u201d for its biodiversity: sea lions, Humboldt penguins and guano birds. Ica is the land of pisco and Peruvian wine, with wineries that have kept the winemaking tradition alive since colonial times. Huacachina is one of the few natural desert lagoons of its kind on the continent, surrounded by giant dunes perfect for sandboarding and dune buggy rides. Three landscapes that show that Kawsay is also lived by the sea and in the desert.<\/p>\n

Altitude:<\/b> Paracas is at sea level and Huacachina (Ica) at about 400 m (1,310 ft). There are no altitude effects. It is a long day on the road (about 4 hours each way from Lima), which is why pickup starts before dawn.<\/p>\n
