The Rainbow Mountain (Vinicunca) tour is a full-day hike from Cusco to one of the most photographed natural landscapes in South America.

History and importance of Rainbow Mountain

Rainbow Mountain is a unique natural phenomenon: seven-colored mineral stripes exposed by retreating glaciers, which in just a few years turned Vinicunca into one of the most visited natural wonders on the continent. From its viewpoint you can see the sacred Ausangate glacier, a reminder that the Andes keep revealing their power and beauty.

Altitude: the viewpoint is at 5,036 m (16,520 ft) and the hike starts at about 4,600 m (15,090 ft). Difficulty: moderate. Trip duration: 12 to 14 hours. If your hotel is in central Cusco we pick you up there (or along the road to Cusipata); otherwise, the meeting point is Plaza Regocijo at the time given by the agency.
