The Humantay Lake tour is a full-day trip from Cusco to one of the most stunning lakes in the Andes, with turquoise waters at the foot of a sacred snow-capped peak.

History and importance of Humantay Lake

The lake is fed by meltwater from the Humantay glacier, considered an Apu (protective deity) in the Andean worldview. Its turquoise waters and the silence of the mountain make it one of the most spiritual places to connect with nature and with the Kawsay of the Andes.

Altitude: the lake is at 4,200 m (13,780 ft) above sea level and the hike starts at Soraypampa, at about 3,900 m (12,800 ft).

Difficulty: moderate. Trip duration: 12 to 13 hours. If your hotel is in central Cusco we pick you up there (or along the road to Anta); otherwise, the meeting point is Plaza Regocijo at the time given by the agency.
