The Rainbow Mountain ATV tour takes you to Vinicunca riding a quad bike (ATV) to the base of the viewpoint, so you save effort on the hike without missing this natural wonder. You can ride a single ATV or share a double ATV between 2 people.
History and importance of Rainbow Mountain
Rainbow Mountain is a unique natural phenomenon: seven-colored mineral stripes exposed by retreating glaciers, which in just a few years turned Vinicunca into one of the most visited natural wonders in South America, with views of the sacred Ausangate glacier.
Altitude: the viewpoint is at 5,036 m (16,520 ft) and the start of the final hike is at about 4,600 m (15,090 ft). With the ATV you only walk the last uphill stretch (approx. 1 hour).
Departures: ATVs have fixed departure times: 3:00, 4:00, 5:00 or 6:00 a.m. Choose yours when booking. The itinerary below is an example with a 4:00 a.m. departure and shifts accordingly for the other departures.
